The Four Spent the Day Together

From acclaimed author Chris Kraus comes The Four Spent the Day Together, a compelling novel that reinvents the true-crime genre. Set against the stark landscape of northern Minnesota's Iron Range, this story delves into the aftermath of a mysterious murder and the lives it touches.

The narrative centers on Catt Greene, who, while navigating her own personal turmoil and a life split between the urban art scene of Los Angeles and the rural isolation of Minnesota, becomes fixated on the case of three teenagers who have killed an acquaintance. As Catt attempts to unravel the mystery behind their actions, she is drawn into exploring the histories of three generations of American lives, uncovering repeating patterns and the pressures of living on the edge.

Praised by The New Yorker as a reinvention of the true-crime novel and called a "masterpiece" by Constance Debré, this book offers a piercing commentary on the complexities of human lives and the connections that bind them.
