The Tubs - Hard Life [CD]

The Tubs present Hard Life, an ambitious evolution of their signature sound, pushing further into virtuosic indie rock. Building on their established chemistry from two prior albums and extensive live performances, the London-based band expands their sonic palette with the addition of fiddle player Chris Haigh. This collaboration adds a lushness and complexity, weaving Haigh's distinctive fiddle lines through the album's introspective and anthemic tracks.

Hard Life explores themes of romantic abjection, London life, grief, and OCD, but introduces a new, steelier persona that challenges the band's previous lyrical focus. Tracks like the title song and "Stoop to Me" showcase the dynamic interplay between Williams' vocals, the band's jangling guitars, and Haigh's evocative fiddle work, creating a sound that is both familiar and refreshingly new.
