A Free Woman [Blu-ray]

On the cusp of marriage, Liana decides against a life in service of a man, instead leaving for Amalfi to embark on an affair. Her journey continues to Paris, but each new adventure is met with emotional constraints, culminating in a tragic finale. Vittorio Cottafavi's emotionally complex story is presented with the melodramatic finesse of Douglas Sirk and a style reminiscent of Max Ophuls. This remarkably modern exploration of female autonomy has been newly restored by Radiance Films and is making its home video debut outside of Italy.
