Description
June McDoom’s debut full-length, Follow the Light, is an audio CD for listeners drawn to folk harmonies and dub rhythms. Its sound is edged with washed guitars, with “Without You” and “Memory” among the songs named on the album.
Made slowly at home with her longtime partner Evan Wright, the album brings together folk and dub, with echoes of Dionne Warwick, Minnie Riperton, Pentangle and Cocteau Twins.
Family and the influence of McDoom’s grandmother Aggie shape the record, particularly “Memory”. Its restrained arrangements begin with voice and guitar, then build across long days in the studio.
