Description
Appalachian Smoke is a vinyl album by Mountain Grass Unit, for listeners drawn to modern bluegrass and American roots music. The band brings its live-concert energy into the recording studio while exploring new directions for the genre.
Mountain Grass Unit combines bluegrass traditions with songwriting influenced by Grateful Dead cuts and rock & roll classics. Their stacked vocal harmonies and expert flat-picking meet an eclectic, contemporary roots sound that treats bluegrass as a living language.
Produced by six-time Grammy winner Vance Powell, the album reflects the band's move from college life to a full-time touring career. Their growing following and 2025 International Bluegrass Music Association Momentum Artist of the Year award mark a significant moment in the group's story.
