Buddy Rich - Birdland [CD]

Birdland is a CD of previously unreleased recordings by Buddy Rich’s Killer Force band, recorded in the mid-1970s. It’s a live jazz album for listeners interested in Rich’s big-band sound and the music featured in the film Whiplash.

The recordings were made with Rich’s permission by saxophonist and bandmate Alan Gauvin, who later mixed and edited the project. The Buddy Rich estate released the collection in 2015.

Buddy Rich was a jazz drummer whose career spanned seven decades. The album brings together Rich on drums with a large ensemble of saxophones, trombones, trumpets, piano and bass.
