Murders in the Rue Morgue [Blu-ray]

Experience the sumptuous-looking arthouse horror riffing on Poe's classic murder mystery, Murders in the Rue Morgue. Starring Herbert Lom and Jason Robards, this film pits a disfigured murderer against a duplicitous actor fighting over the same woman. Painstakingly restored in 4K from the original film negatives by Hammer, this release presents both Gordon Hessler's original director's cut and the AIP's re-edited theatrical version.

The story follows Madeline, the leading lady of a Parisian 'grand guignol' theatre troupe, who is haunted by visions of an axe-wielding maniac. Her fears escalate when a member of her acting company is horribly murdered, suggesting more violence is to come.
