Miles Davis - Porgy and Bess [lp_record]

Experience the complete orchestral masterpiece Porgy and Bess by Miles Davis, presented here on a limited edition 180g vinyl pressing. This seminal work showcases Davis bringing profound depth, blues feeling, and lyricism to George Gershwin's opera.

Arranged and conducted by the masterful Gil Evans, the album utilizes a large ensemble to frame Miles' iconic trumpet work with rich, cinematic textures. This collaboration is celebrated for its quiet intensity and superb musical execution, as noted by Gene Lees of DownBeat in 1958.

The dramatic scope and emotional power of the arrangements are evident in standout tracks such as 'Summertime', 'Buzzard Song', and 'It Ain't Necessarily So'. The inherent pensiveness of Evans' writing perfectly complements the introversion of Davis's playing, creating music that is intensely focused.
