Description
Warsaw’s self-titled rock album brings together early recordings by the Manchester band that later became Joy Division, plus demo recordings made at Pennine Studios. This black vinyl pressing is for listeners interested in the group’s early post-punk sound and songs including “Transmission” and “Shadowplay”.
Formed in Manchester in the late 1970s, Warsaw featured Ian Curtis, Bernard Albrecht, Peter Hook and Stephen Morris. The band took its name from “Warszawa”, a David Bowie and Brian Eno composition.
The album includes early recordings of “Interzone” and “Transmission”, songs that would later become famous. Five bonus demos were recorded in Manchester in July 1977 with Steve Brotherdale on drums.
